A Few of the Many Reasons Why CD5 Residents Should NOT Vote for Ellison

I posted over on Minnestoa Monitor and was questioned about my statements. Since someone asked, I figured I would let everyone know some of the reasons why Keith Ellison should not go to Congress.

I've read every bill Mr. Ellison has ever authored and the record is littered with irresponsible legislation. Perhaps people should realize that the legislative record, upon which Ellison touts himself, isn't impressive. In fact it is detrimental to us all. Step away from partisanship and blind faith in the DFL and realize that two other true progressives are running in this race and Keith Ellison isn't one of them. I am in the process of getting some audio files together too, but with my two jobs I have been pretty tied up. If anyone wants to help, email us at and I'll get back to you.

Each of these bills can be found at:

1. 2005-2006 Legislative Session he authored a bill that would remove the state's ability to crack down on people who are delinquent in paying child support.

SEE HF 1288: Driver's license suspension for nonpayment of support repealed.

2. 2005-2006 Legislative Session he authored a bill that would
decriminalize making false reports of police brutality. He authored a bill that would make it easier for people to attack the police due to diminished legal consequence.

SEE HF 2951 False information relating to police misconduct criminal provision repealed.

3. 2003-2004 (I had the wrong year on the previous post) Legislative Session he authored a bill that would remove the penalty for open alcoholic drinks inside a motor vehicle.

SEE HF 2875 Driver's license; specified misdemeanor traffic offenses provided that do not constitute grounds for driver's license revocation or suspension.

4. 2003-2004 Legislative Session he supported an amendment to the science standards that would have allowed Intelligent Design to be taught as a science.

SEE HF 2558 No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 state affirmation provided and social studies and science rigorous core academic standards rulemaking and implementation authorized.

2005-2006 Regular Session

Primary Author of 62 Bills. 58 stuck in committee, 2 stuck after 2nd reading and only 2 passed

He piggy backed on some other legislators and was Coauthor of 144 Bills. 126 Stuck in committee. 5 stuck after 2nd reading and 13 passed.

So in summary, Keith has authored bills which are detrimental to child protection and public safety. He voted to bastardize the science standards and in the last legislative session he got two of his own bills passed (a success rate of 3%). This isn't what we need in congress.

I've done a in-depth review of all the candidates, their positions, their histories and looked at their qualifications. Keith Ellison and Alan Fine are NOT qualified candidates.
