Lloydletta's Nooz Exclusive: Attorney General Laurie Swanson to Speak at the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association Annual Meeting
Laurie Swanson seems to be doing something different than her predecessor Mike Hatch in one area. She has decided to avoid baiting gays for political gain in the way Mike Hatch did in some of his campaigns.
From the MLBA home page:
Minnesota Lavender Bar Association is an organization of legal professionals and students committed to promoting social justice through education and advocacy, focusing on legal and public policy issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people. We are dedicated to fostering solidarity both within the organization and the legal community.
First and foremost, MLBA is dedicated to helping GLBTI individuals in Minnesota access the highest quality legal assistance available and to assist them with the legal needs they face through such means as referrals and clinics.
MLBA seeks to improve the responsiveness of the legal system in Minnesota to the needs of GLBTI individuals. This involves working with government officials and agencies to educate them as to the impact of existing or proposed laws and regulations on GLBTI individuals, and to seek fairness in implementation and results.
MLBA also seeks to help employers and others understand their legal responsibilities to their GLBTI employees, customers, and others.
