What is interesting about this alert is that it the from line states:
From: Minnesota Family Council & Institute
This is clearly issue advocacy. At the end there is this disclaimer:
Minnesota Family Council is a non-partisan 501(c)(4) organization, for which donations support issue advocacy and are NOT tax-deductible. Minnesota Family Institute is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) subsidiary of Minnesota Family Council, for which donations support educational and voter participation activities and ARE tax-deductible.
Are they mixing MFC/MFI funds? They have always been sloppy about this sort of thing.
Minnesota Family Council Action Alert
Volunteers Needed Immediately!
Show your support for the marriage protection amendment!
May 8, 2009
We have an immediate need for volunteers to help make a visible show of support for the Minnesota Marriage Protection Amendment at the State Capitol.
Just come to the Capitol, hold a sign urging legislators to let the people vote on the marriage protection amendment, and pray for legislators as they meet in session.
We're looking for people who are available from 10:00a to 12:00 noon one or more days through May 18th, to join us at the State Capitol and stand with us for marriage.
We also need “captains” who we will serve as coordinators for a day at the Capitol. This includes picking up signs by 9:30a at the State Office Building, across the street from the Capitol, coaching volunteers on their role, and and returning signs to State Office Building afterward.
To sign up or for more information, contact Cheryl at email@example.com or 612-789-8811 ext 202.
Action speaks louder than words!
Thank you for your help!
